Carrier
blends the past, present and future with the 38TPA, an air conditioner that
combines old-fashioned value
with the refrigerant developed to meet changing environmental demands.
It's nothing new, really. Since 1902, Carrier has routinely set the standards
for comfort, quality and innovation. Now, as the demand for indoor comfort
products grows beyond simple comfort control to include environmental soundness,
we continue to provide industry leadership with products like the 38TPA.
Governmental and environmental requirements change, but homeowners will
always demand comfort, energy efficiency and reliability. Carrier has earned
its reputation as the world's most trusted source for superior indoor comfort
by continuously meeting or exceeding consumer expectations.
Enjoy cool, summer comfort and electrical savings while helping preserve the earth's
ozone layer. The 38TPA will keep you cool while achieving an efficiency
rating of 11.0 SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio). This air conditioner
easily surpasses the efficiency of a typical, older air conditioner you
may be replacing as well as many new models. That means you can enjoy cool,
comfortable summers while saving money on your electric bill. At the same
time, this model does its part to help protect the ozone layer through the
use of Puron® refrigerant. That will
become more and more important in the future as the refrigerant used in
most current cooling systems, Freon®-22*,
is in the process of being phased out by the federal government.
*Freon is a registered trademark of E. I. Dupont de Nemours &
Co.
Carrier has been at the forefront of the effort to develop products that
use Puron®
refrigerant, giving us clear advantages in reliability,
performance and future cost of service issues. Carrier was the first
company to offer a long-term replacement for Freon® -22
as far back as 1994. That experience, coupled with our existing knowledge
of indoor weather technology has allowed us to develop a new air conditioner
family that is the most reliable and quietest operating Carrier product
line currently available. Designed, built and backed by the most respected
name in the comfort industry, the 38TPA air conditioner delivers indoor
comfort for the future.
At Carrier, we understand that it's hard to relax with a noisy air
conditioner, so we take several steps to ensure the 38TPA is one of the
industry's quietest condensing units. Carrier's exclusive Silencer
System ensures extra-quiet cooling. This includes four main elements:
the Silencer top, a low-speed fan motor with large-diameter fan blades,
a compressor vibration isolator plate and a sound hood. The Silencer top
is designed to allow smooth, easy airflow into and out of the outdoor
unit to minimize noise associated with turbulent air. This design allows
us to utilize the low-speed fan motor with large-diameter fan blades for
quieter, more energy efficient operation than a high-speed model. The
compressor vibration isolator plate is made of a special, vibration-absorbing
material surrounded by two metal plates. It's mounted under the compressor
and absorbs vibrational noise created through compressor operation. The
sound hood is designed of sound-absorbing materials which blanket the
compressor to add a final touch to the noise reduction system.
A byproduct of this Silencer System is greater operational efficiency.
Because the Silencer System greatly improves airflow through the outdoor
coil section, your air conditioning system doesn't work as hard as other
competitive systems. As a result, the 38TPA delivers soothing indoor comfort
with money-saving energy efficiency. And, because the system is more efficient,
the coil can be made smaller to take up less of your valuable space.
Carrier maintains the industry's toughest reliability testing standards
to be sure that every product we make will provide trusted performance.
Every step of the development process has reliability testing built in.
In fact, Carrier designs and tests the 38TPA for applications up to 125º.
That's a full 10º higher than the industry standard requirements. During
the design phase, hand-built prototypes are tested for potential performance
issues. Test stations on the production line provide quality control during
assembly. Then, each product is run-tested by a bank of computers that monitors
all vital functions to ensure the performance will meet your expectations.
Our very first product with Puron®
has become the most trouble-free model in our entire product offering.
And since that time, we have become even more experienced with installing
and servicing these products. That means your local Carrier dealer is ahead
of the competition when it comes to working with these innovative products.
Through a special factory training program, Carrier has certified thousands
of service technicians nationwide to be your Puron refrigerant specialists.
Carrier
has been around for over a century by offering products designed to take
the abuse of the great outdoors and deliver lasting, reliable indoor weather.
On the outside, our WeatherArmor™ III system combines a heavy galvanized
steel cabinet, 12-gauge wire coil guard and ceramic-coated screws to provide
protection against rust, corrosion and the abuse that comes from sitting
outside.
By combining our knowledge of indoor weather technology with new innovations
and designs, Carrier remains at the forefront of the indoor weather industry.
According to the Clean Air Act of 1990, Freon®-22*
and other harmful refrigerants
will be phased out of use and homeowners will soon have to turn to Puron®
refrigerant to maintain their indoor comfort. That's why Carrier has been
designing and testing heating and cooling equipment that uses Puron, the
refrigerant approved by the EPA to replace Freon®-22.
In fact, Carrier has been offering Puron-based systems like the 38TPA
since 1996, developing a complete line of products using the world's first,
long-term solution to ozone depletion. Environmentally sound, economically
sound and extremely reliable, the 38TPA air conditioner provides the comfort
you expect from an industry leader like Carrier.
The 38TPA allows homeowners to avoid the potentially skyrocketing costs
for servicing units with Freon®-22.
In the past, when a refrigerant has been phased out, the costs of servicing
products using that refrigerant have risen dramatically. It happened in
the
automobile industry with Freon®-12,
and it could easily happen with Freon®-22.
By choosing the 38TPA with Puron refrigerant, you begin saving money right
away and avoid the potentially higher service costs later.
Carrier products have always delivered excellent reliability, and
these new products with Puron® refrigerant
improve on that record. In fact, our first Puron-based air conditioners
have gained recognition nationwide for dependable operation.
Carrier has been on the leading edge of the indoor weather industry
since Willis Carrier invented what we now know as air conditioning in
1902. Since that time, Carrier scientists, engineers and dealers have
been providing homeowners with the most advanced indoor weather technology
available. This technological advantage has enabled Carrier to customize
indoor weather systems for millions of homeowners nationwide.
Today, you can rely on your local Carrier dealer to evaluate your
indoor comfort needs and suggest a customized system that best fits those
precise requirements. By recommending the appropriate furnace, air
conditioner, humidifier, air cleaner, ventilator, zoning system and controls,
your Carrier dealer can deliver enhanced comfort while improving the efficiency
of your system. Ask your Carrier dealer for a system evaluation today.
Always look for these symbols, the air conditioning
industry seals of certified performance, efficiency and capacity.
